Our students have worked hard this school year and are growing in content knowledge and critical thinking skills.   I am proud and confident they will do their best on this new state assessment.

As always, I am asking for your support during the week of testing.  Please encourage your child to give their best effort, to embrace the challenge, to persist and to take smart learning risks.  Students are ready!

There are several other simple things parents can do that make a big difference on testing day:

  • Please make sure your child attends school on testing day and is on time.  If you have scheduled a doctor visit or plan to keep your child out of school for any reason, please reschedule those plans so children can take the test during their scheduled times.
  • Please ensure your child goes to bed early and eats a hearty breakfast before coming to school.
  • Communicate confidence, highlight their strengths and encourage your child to review their work and never give up.

Thank you very much for your support and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at EJohnson@bpsk12.org.

3rd Grade Violin Program

violinThis year Fox Hill School has a special music opportunity that will begin in October for our third graders.  The music department is working to incorporate violin lessons in all third grades across the district.  Our third graders were treated to a special performance by the violin teacher, Ms. Laura Berger last week and third grade students will attend a special matinee symphony performance in Lexington, MA this year.  If your child is interested in taking violin lessons at school it is not too late to sign up.  The program is a great opportunity for your children to try out an instrument.  For more information about the program, please visit www.burlingtonviolin.wordpress.com or please read the Violin Program Information Letter which was sent home.  Instruments may be rented through Leonard’s Music in Bedford, MA and you may register for lessons online.
