Fox Hill Happenings ~ 10/6/17

Our first long weekend is here marking the official arrival of fall, pumpkins and changing leaves! It also marks the first five weeks of school.  I love October because of the cool weather, the shorter days and the warm evenings.  I also love October because everyone is settling into school routines, engaging in learning and making new friends.  We had a great start and much effort has been extended by teachers, students and their parents to make our school year begin smoothly. Last week was school pictures and I absolutely loved seeing the children in their special outfits.  I know their pictures will come out beautifully!  Last week we also had a planned fire drill and Fox Hill staff and students received high marks from the Burlington Fire Department for their efficient and effective exit from the school building and they were impressed with our safety procedures.  As you all know, the week before we had an unexpected fire drill, and everyone left the building quickly and efficiently.  The fire department believes the alarm was not tripped by student or an adult but rather most likely by a coat or item of clothing.  Whether planned or unplanned our students and staff know what to do during a fire drill and I am most appreciative to everyone who supported Fox Hill School on both days.

As a reminder, any parent who is in the building during a fire drill must immediately exit the building through the closest exit door.  This procedure is set forth by the Burlington Fire Department and is the safest way to exit a building for all.

Morning Drop Off Reminder:  Parents who drop off their students in the morning must park in the parking lot and use the crosswalk in front of the building to walk their children to school or use the parent drop-off around the building.  When parents use the drop off around the building, students may exit the car at the stop sign and walk along the sidewalk to the front entrance of the school building.  These are the safest procedures for all children and adults attending Fox Hill School.  If you would like to review the procedures, please refer to pages 10-12 in the student handbook.  Thank you to everyone for your cooperation and support!

Looking for Parent Volunteers to help in the Fox Hill Library

Mr. Murphy is looking for a few parent volunteers to help re-shelve books in the library on any day and time that may be convenient for you. If you have a particular availability on a weekly basis, please email Mr. Murphy.  Please note that before you can volunteer, you would need to attend one of the Parent Volunteer Orientation Meetings (last meeting is Tuesday, October 10th at 9:30 am).  In addition, a CORI must be on file in the school office. Thank you for your time and help.

Message from the Nurse

The Nurse could use some clothes for the office.  All sizes even for the bigger kids.  Underwear, socks and elastic waist pants are the best. Any donations would be appreciated.
