Fox Hill Happenings ~ 4-28-17

Welcome back from spring break!  Kids came back happy, smiling and ready to learn!  I was so happy to see our students as they brighten my day, all day, every day!  We have the best students ever and I am so proud of all of them!  We also have outstanding teachers too!  On Saturday, Ms. Stone, Mr. Daley and Ms. Greene are presenting at Parent University hosted at Burlington High School on Saturday, April 29th!  They are sharing ideas, tips and sharing for how to help children complete homework.  Their session begins at 9:30am!  If you have time and are interested in hearing their thoughts about how to support kids complete homework, come join us!

Mr. Murphy created, planned, organized and hosted Fox Hill School’s first Environmental Day in the Fox Hill School Learning Commons.   Mr. Murphy is passionate about teaching kids to appreciate, care for and respect the environment.  Ms. Pavelick and Mrs Thorpe were on hand to lend to teach students about animals, birds and gardening.  The kids had a meaningful and fun day learning about and engaging with the environment!  Thank you Mr. Murphy and friends!

Tools to Help Your Child Manage Emotions and Problem Solve

At this workshop, we will be discussing programs, like; Zones of Regulation and Social Thinking. These are programs we use in our small group sessions and, at times, also in the regular education classroom. Zones of Regulation is a program designed to help children identify how they are feeling, as it is linked to a color, and they can begin to determine what to do when their emotions are feeling less comfortable. Social Thinking is a program that we draw many elements from, including understanding the size of a problem and how to solve that problem. We will be touching upon these topics and more!

Date: Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 5:30 pm
Where: Fox Hill Library
Please RSVP to JGreene@bpsk12.org if you will be able to attend!

Fox Hill Happenings ~ 4-13-17

April vacation has arrived and I wish everyone a peaceful and relaxing vacation doing everything  you love to do with your family!  Spring is such a great time in a school year, the days become longer, the sun warmer and the smiles brighter!  Our PTO kicked off the official start of spring by hosting the annual Spring Ice Cream Social.  The evening was a huge success evidenced by the fun parents and kids were having eating ice cream and watching a very exciting reptile show.  The children were fascinated observing the many different living reptiles and some children were even able to touch them!  Thank you to everyone who helped organize this event and thank you to all the parents who attended, your support was very much appreciated.  Special thanks to Fox Hill teachers, Ms. Christie, Mrs. Binnall, Ms. Stone, Mrs. Tigges, Mrs. Lisano, Mr. Lisano, Mr. Daley, and Mrs. Walsh, who volunteered to scoop ice cream, I think we had just as much fun as the kids!

Our Fox Hill School News has been a huge success!  We aired our third edition last week and we are working on our 4th edition.  I am very proud of our students, their enthusiasm, their confidence, and their skill at writing.  The Fox Hill News Team has exceeded expectations! Ms. Scheffer oversees product and development of the news but the kids do all the work!  Please enjoy the 3rd edition of our Fox Hill News!  Coming soon to my blog will be a Fox Hill News tab for parents to access as soon as possible, so no one misses an edition!  Happy watching!
